& Smile for Change
Smile for Change is a proud supporter of the St. James! We provide volunteers opportunities to lend a hand stocking the shelves, making lunches or creating grocery bags and delivering them. St. James Food Pantry distributes food on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. They also provide emergency services to all clients with social service referrals. Emergency Food, Infant Formula, and Diapers are provided Monday through Thursday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Their Homeless Lunch Program began in 2005 to address the needs of the homeless people who have no way of cooking or refrigerating food. Lunches are served Monday through Thursday 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. On the second Saturday of the month St. James Food Pantry participates in the Food Depository’s Mobile Pantry program to provide supplemental perishable and non-perishable food products to individuals every Second Saturday of the month, 9 am to 12 pm. This service is designed to ensure that all people in Cook County have access to food during times not typical for food distribution.
The robust food delivery program for home bound seniors and disabled has been in existence for over 10 years. The program makes their services accessible to home bound seniors living in senior residential buildings in their area. Food is delivered to seniors and disabled every Wednesdays and Thursdays between 10 am and 2 pm.

Smile for Change would love to help organize a volunteer opportunity for you! We can meet you there and show you the ropes and introduce you to everyone! It’s a lovely place to help out and we hope the people you’ll meet will warm your heart and grow to be friends like they have for us!
“To give well, appropriately and often is to establish a beautiful seasonal symmetry between the urgency within us that wishes to be generous, and the part of the world that is suddenly surprised and happy to receive.”David Whyte
